FRIDAY MEMBERS’ NIGHT
NINE & DINE
2008
Welcome
A new golf season is upon us. We are looking forward to good fun, great food, a small competition between participants and, most of all, new and renewed friendships.
The main focus of the evening, open to all membership categories, is to golf in a social atmosphere.
A small weekly fee of $1.00 will be collected from each golfer, if they wish to participate in the evening competition so that we may have trophies and prizes at the closing of the season. Participants may register on the internet or when they present themselves in the lower lounge on Friday evenings before play starts. Each week we will have different games as outlined on the schedule.
Our first evening will be Friday, May 2nd. After golf we would encourage all participants to gather in the lower lounge for beverages and a light meal. We would like to see many new faces this year.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact J.P. Lachapelle, this year’s coordinator, at (613) 592-1373 or the Canadian Golf and Country Club website.
FRIDAY MEMBERS’ NIGHT
COMPETITION
2008
This is a gross or low net competition in which 9 holes are played on the East Course each Friday evening starting at 5:00 p.m.
The top 5 players from each category (men and ladies) are allotted a total of 15 points in the following way:
1 st place 5 points
2nd place 4 points
3rd place 3 points
4th place 2 points
5th place 1 point
1st to 5th place will be decided each Friday. Depending on the game played that particular evening ranking will be established and points given accordingly. At the same time an aggregate score will be established for each participant. Only the best 10 weeks are counted for a maximum of 50 points.
The competition will run from May 2nd to September 12th, 2008. The closing will occur on September 19th with the awarding of trophies and prizes.
Men’s and ladies competitions will be scored separately. Only the 9 holes played after 5:00 p.m. on Friday evenings will be counted. Regular rules of golf apply. A valid handicap is required for this competition.
FRIDAY MEMBERS’ NIGHT
COMPETITION
GAMES
2008
Net Score
Each person’s gross score for nine holes is reduced by one half of their club handicap as established by the Canadian Golf & Country Club Computer base handicap system.
Seven of Nine
The two holes with the largest deviation over par are deducted from each member’s gross score and the resulting Net is used.
Hidden Hole(s)
Either one or two holes are deleted from the gross score of each member. The holes to be deleted (hidden holes) are established by draw (usually in the pro-shop) after completion of the round
Best Seven Available
The highest and lowest scores are deducted from the total nine played and the resulting Net score is used.
Hidden Partners
This can be played either as a gross or net game:
1.Gross – Ladies and Men’s names are drawn and the two scores combined as partners. The total score of the two is used.
2. Net – Same draw but the total score for the partnership is reduced by their combined handicap to achieve a net result.
NOTE: If the ladies and men’s participation is uneven then some names can be drawn twice and partnered with another person other than the original draw.
Three Clubs and a Putter
Each person can choose any three clubs and a putter to play the nine holes. The clubs must be stipulated prior to tee-off on the 1st hole and members will be on their honour to adhere to their choice. (Can be Gross or Net).
3.3.3. (Three, Three, Three)
Each member of a foursome is the partner of one of the other members for three holes. The lowest net (or Gross) score for that hole will count. (The Net game needs some planning as each member’s handicap has to be established.) It can be played by drawing names for the foursomes (after the game) of 2 men and 2 ladies. If uneven, some names can be drawn in two different foursomes (example of scorecard is attached).
Stableford
In this competition handicap strokes are applied to each hole for each player. The NET score is then used to calculate points.
2 or more over par – no points awarded
1 over par ……………………………1
Par …………………………………...2
1 under par …………………………..3
2 under par …………………………..4
3 under par …………………………..5
4 under par …………………………..6
The highest number of points wins the game.
Count Holes Starting with “F”, “S” and “T”
Self explanatory, can be gross or net.
Odd Holes only count
Self explanatory, can be gross or net.
All these games can be started out as “Play Your Own Game” and the results
can be tabulated after the score cards have been turned in.
If in doubt, just keep scores and let the coordinator work out the results.
